On October 13, 2023, Krystal submitted a request for medical clemency. She has yet to hear back, while every day her health worsens. People on the outside need to put pressure on the Parole Board and Michigan Governor Gretchen Wilmer, urging them to release Krystal so she does not die in prison.

Please take a few minutes to email the Parole Board and request they expedite Krystal’s application and recommend her release to Michigan Governor Gretchen Wilmer. See below for language you can copy and paste to make it even easier, but feel free to add your own thoughts and reasons for supporting Krystal.

After that, contact the Governor to request she work quickly to secure Krystal’s release. Remind her that when people wrote her previously demanding Krystal’s release, her response was that Krystal needed to file for clemency. Well, Krystal filed for clemency, and now she needs to be released! Again, see below for language to copy and paste, while adding your own reasons you support Krystal and why she deserves to be free.

Krystal Clark’s MDOC Number: 435064

SAMPLE LANGUAGE– PAROLE BOARD

I am writing to express support for Krystal Clark’s (MDOC #435064) commutation application, which was submitted to the Parole Board on October 13, 2023, and to request that a decision to commute Krystal’s sentence be rendered without delay due to her fragile and deteriorating medical conditions.

Krystal is only thirty-nine years old but is at severe risk of dying in prison if she is not released and given the medical care she desperately needs. Krystal has a rare heart condition that must be carefully managed along with her hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and asthma to avoid cardiac arrest. Krystal has fought a recurrent ear infection for the past twenty months, and doctors have told her she has mold growing out of her ear. Krystal is severely allergic to black mold, but MDOC has been unable to provide her a living space that is not damp and moldy.

Krystal has undergone shocking physical transformations while incarcerated. Half of her face has shifted and drooped dramatically. Her extremities are so swollen that she struggles to write or hold basic items. She gets so dizzy walking around that she now relies on a wheelchair. I am extremely concerned that her physical condition will continue to deteriorate rapidly as long as she is incarcerated.

I beg the Parole Board to review Krystal’s application with urgency considering her age, medical, condition, and all the other factors discussed in greater length in her application. Krystal should not have to serve a death sentence for her convictions.

Thank you for your time and attention to Ms. Clark’s application.

SAMPLE LANGUAGE– GOVERNOR

I am writing to express my support for Krystal Clark’s (MDOC #435064) commutation application, which was recently submitted to the Parole Board for review, and to request that a decision to commute Krystal’s sentence be rendered without delay due to her fragile and deteriorating medical conditions. Individuals like me have been contacting the Governor’s office for years asking for help getting Krystal the medical care she needs, and were told that Krystal must submit a medical clemency application. Now she has – will you use your power as Governor to save her life?

Krystal is only thirty-nine years old but is at severe risk of dying in prison if she is not released and given the medical care she desperately needs. Krystal has a rare heart condition that must be carefully managed along with her hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and asthma to avoid cardiac arrest. Krystal has fought a recurrent ear infection for the past eighteen months, and doctors have told her she has mold growing out of her ear.

I understand that the commutation process can take time. But I fear that Krystal will have little time left if she is not released as soon as possible. I beg the Governor’s office to review Krystal’s application with urgency considering her age, medical, condition, and all the other factors discussed in greater length in her application.

Thank you for your time and attention to Ms. Clark’s application.
